wow this show is the best of the tour/year so far. vocally the band is more and more on point every night. great night for keith. everyone has shining moments.
bertha, llr, all over, half step are all essential performances. the grateful dead are showing us they have a whole new act. theyre loving it and so is the crowd.
second set is unreal. glad to hear more from bobby tonight. coulda used more estimated, but it gets better every night and its cool to see them developing it night to night. 1977 hit orbit in new jersey, but tonight the band has moved beyond.
some annoying feedback and tech delays but the show really doesnt suffer for it.

I love any version I can find to listen to about The Dead. Its a slice in time someone recorded. Sure some are better than others and some are versions that are not in the audience. I just like to discover a recording and listen to it and move on to the next. To get caught up on the levels and the specs is as silly as picking apart The Dead when they are good, great or really suck. Because they are one of the few bands who play and will admit for whatever reason that they were not that good that night. Move on to the next song, the next set the next night. So I appreciate the tapes and the bad recordings as much as the good ones. That to me is the true beauty to The Grateful dead, it is totally transparent on that particular night. same can be said of The tapers! So i say just enjoy anything about The Dead. Peace Love and happiness......maybe have some cake and celebrate today it is someones birthday!

I was a high school junior. It was a blast though I couldn't say if it was actually good, since it was the second time I took acid and I was still a novice Dead-Head. A few days later I saw the Cornell show and was more alert, having just a few tokes. That was the show that made me a Dead-Head.
A little over a year later I was one of the lucky few who saw the Some Girls tour at the Palladium. Now that was a life-changing event! Saw Paul and Linda as well as Andy Honey and his entourage. Rumors abounded that Lou, John and Yoko were lurking about somewhere.

Though this show isn't generally a remarkable performance, the ending Stephen-sandwich belongs in anybody's dead collection.

Subject: HALF STEP!!!!!
This is a good show, but the Half-Step is must hear territory. The ending jam is absolutely ferocious - Jerry CRUSHES IT!!!!!!! Forget all the other spring '77 versions; this is my new #1 version of the song right here.

I listen to one live show a day, never got to see them, but i followed phish. I just want to say when im looking for a concert it has to have atleast 3 stars and atleast 2 reviews. It is amazing all the stuff you guys know. I'll admit over half the time i go with what the review says. Please keep up the good work and keep writing reviews. Thank you all. I'm saving money to go see phil and bob but, I live in OK and no one ever puts on a show here.

catchers mitt? fish tank? how spoiled have we gotten over the years, i would have loved to have had this show back in the day on tape. sure it not one for a set of head phone cranked up, but get a decent sound system with a sub woofer and then crank it up, open the windows and get out in the beautiful spring day! i'll give it five stars just to offset wasting time guy. it would be more like a 4.35 on my scale but the one star should offset it just right. ahhh thirty two years ago in the spring, i love the dead in the spring!

this is a really good show. for those who don't know, the soundboard is available for purchase - it's Download Series Volume 1 and you can get it at the dead web site (or ITunes).

Come on folks, this recording sounds like it came through a ctacher's mitt submerged in a fish tank. Fabulous set list, but don't waste your time. Any other version of this anywhere? I NEED this Music Never Stopped....

after last night's show, i'm totally @#!%ing stoked for tonight!!! the place is vibrating in anticipation...no st. stephen yet this tour...
seems like the first set is one of the past few nights, only played backwards, but the music plays the band and the double opener has me dancing like there's no tomorrow. and i'm still a hopeless fool for it's all over now, particularly when it's as dagnasty as this one! a concise little cowboy sequence, a few love songs and a fine half-step later we hit the promised land, a great closer - never, ever long enough it seems, but it leaves us wanting more, more, more!
and they then deliver the goods...scarlet gets reunited tonight with its new partner. not as tight as previous nights’ versions, but the merge into good love makes up for it. FOTD is the lay up (that was MY HEAD you broke, bob!) before another solid, but not as trippy as the last two nights, estimated. and then it’s decision time , and yeah, we know how it is, bobby…and then BAM! the st. stephen debut leads the way through a ferocious back end of the set with last night’s jam-only NFA picking back up into a righteously nasty vocal version, lays down a sweet stella blue before completing sammich. one more saturday night is a great closer, hot dam! terrapin is a mighty sweet and much-needed encore.
i'm going to go wander downtown and try to get my space together before tomorrow night.

no wonder this got released by gdp...so f***ing sweet.

Usually, I try to stay away from AUD recordings, but this one is just to good to do that! Yeah, it could be better, but this still happens to be an amazing show with a pretty good source.

Not only does the GD have the soundboard . . .
Two words: BETTY BOARD! 'Nuff said.
Oh, and there are 3 bonus tracks from 4/29, which were not on my previous source for that show, either. All in all, a DAMN strong first release for GD digital downloads.

If you like other Jerry Moore AUDs (his 11-4-77 is one of my all-time favorites), you'll like this one. I only wish some of the AUDs from the late 80s sounded this good. Yes, lots of Phil and room presence leads to some "indistinctness" in the lower freqs, but the mix is wonderfully even here, and you can pick out out everything from Phil's lines to the hi-hats and cow-bells, very distinctly. Definitely heard a lot worse.

Very short pre-turn break by Garcia. Post-turn, pretty fluent and driving. He starts a trill at 5:27 but quickly backs off into single note soloing. By the 6 minute mark, it's done. Not quite the tour de force this tune became.

the energy in the first set is unbelievable, probably best first set of '77. crowd is in such a mood, great to hear.
unfortunately this recording is pretty poor. i've been actively seeking for the past three years to find another source but it hasn't happened yet. this is the only source i come across time and again. theres a major source change in the middle of bertha, its a shame.
still worth the d/l though, at least the first set.
